On June 30th, 20202 at 19:30hr, the Vietnam Commemoration Committee assembled to render honors and welcome home, Marine Kenneth Harrigan of The Villages, Florida. The commemoration ceremony began with the Marine Corps League's Color Guard marching on the colors.
The National Anthem was played, followed by the Marines' Hymn. After the opening ceremony, we started the program by commemorative partner Lou Calleja, giving an overview of the commemorative program by highlighting its origins and mission.
We began the pinning ceremony by honoring Marine Veteran Kenneth Harrigan, who has been diagnosed with cancer.
A neighbor contacted us and arranged for Mr. Harrigan to be honored. Forty (40) of his neighbors gathered in front of his house to watch the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Harrigan made a donation to a charity of the detachment's choosing.
Semper Fidelis,
Luis Calleja, Chairman
Additionally, 12 other veterans received their pins. In addition to their pins, each recipient received a Presidential Proclamation.
