Do You Know, "The Guard" Wants You, To Join The Team!

Have you ever performed the "Manual of Arms" for friends with a broom or similar item?

Have you ever looked at the Marines in the local parades and wanted to stand out, and give a little bit more in your community? Have you ever felt your back straighten with pride while "The Colors" went past or a tear rolled down your cheek as Taps played? Maybe you could be one of the few, the proud, a member of, "The Guard".



"The Guard" preforms 2 distinct functions for the detachment.


1. Presenting the "Colors" at various events such as detachment meetings, local parades, and local organizations within The Villages and surrounding area.

2. Providing "Honors" for deceased military members at various locations around The Villages, and surrounding area, as well as at the National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell Florida.



"The Guard" uniform consists of the following:

Red MCL Cover

White Short Sleeve Shirt,

White Gloves,

Tan Web Belt w/ brass buckle,

White Duty Belt with Brass EGA Buckle

Blue Trousers,

Black Socks & Shoes,




At times "The Guard" will wear the

Red MCL Cover,

Red detachment polo shirt,

White Gloves,

Black Belt,

Black Trousers,

Black Socks & Shoes,





During cooler climate events, "The Guard" may wear the Red Jacket,

(as shown above).

If you join "The Guard", not only will they provide you with the proper uniform*, "The Guard" will also pay for half of the cost of the Red Jacket, and the cost for embroidery of your name and USMC logo on the back.

Most likely, you know the basic movements for just about all "The Guard" does.


"The Guard" will even pay for the dry cleaning. Through the twice monthly training events, you will lean to be a part of the team.

"The Guard" meets on every 2nd and 4th Thursday morning, at the Pimlico Recreation Center, 530 Belvedere Blvd, The Villages, FL 32162, starting at 11:00 am.
