These seniors all demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and reflect great credit to their families, classmates and their community.

Colonel Fred Geier stated, “The Marine Corps League is proud to offer this scholarship to The Villages High School and Marine Corps League Detachment family members. This award is different from others, it’s about leadership; and there’s one thing Marines appreciate and that’s a good leader.” “It gives our Villages Marine Corps League Detachment the opportunity to select the recipient on merits other than just scholastic average. We are looking for that “diamond in the rough” who has demonstrated his or her potential leadership qualities to become a great leader in the future.”

This year’s applicants were exceptional. These young adults will go on and represent our communities as the future leaders of our country. Including this year’s recipients, The Villages Marine Corps League has now awarded over $60,750 total to the past sixty-four award recipients.

The Marine Corps League meets every third Monday of the month at 7:00PM at Bacall Recreation Center. The Colonel Phillip C. Delong Detachment is active in several other charitable causes and is always looking for those former Marines and Corpsmen to join The Villages Marine Corps League.
