James Alexander Rogowski, Age 81, of Sylvania, Ohio and formerly of Temperance, Michigan passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Ebeid Center surrounded by his loving family.


He was born on March 6, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Aloysius and Irene (Kurdys) Rogowski. A graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, James went on to earn his BA from the University of Toledo, MS from Central Michigan University and PhD from Walden College.


He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.


James was an adjunct professor for various colleges and universities in Florida from 2003 – 2020. Before that he was Director Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering for Automotive Products, Inc. primarily in Auburn Hills, Michigan from 1983-2000, and Manager of Plant Engineering for Champion Spark Plug from 1979 - 1983.


He was a former parishioner of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Toledo, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, Michigan.


  James and his wife Kathleen lived at The Villages in Central Florida for almost 24 years. During that time, he was an active member of the Marine Corp League, working with “Toys for Tots” as well as helping to secure scholarships for students in need.


An avid golfer, he enjoyed golfing at the Orange Blossom golf course in The Villages. He was also an excellent cook – passionate about food and preparing gourmet meals for family and friends.


He and Kathleen were members of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in The Villages.


James was always kind, gentle, and generous to a fault. A dear and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will truly be missed.


  James is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Kathleen (Slowinski) Rogowski; sons, David (Sandy), Dan (Abigail), and Doug (Tracy) Rogowski; grandchildren, Sommer Rogowski, Kaitlyn Rogowski, Jennifer (Brandan) Carnes, Morgan Rogowski, Alex Rogowski, Brian Thompson, and Rebecca Thompson; and brothers, John and Jeffrey Rogowski.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


  Visitation will be Friday, July 19 from 2-7 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd.


The funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 719 Evesham Ave (at Parkside Blvd).


Those attending the funeral Mass are invited to go directly to the church.


Interment with Military Honors led by the VFW 606 Burial Corps will follow in Calvary Cemetery.


  Memorial donations may be given to “Toys for Tots”, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Condolences may be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
